Art Hub Pikisaari on mukana Oulun Lumo-valofestivaalissa 21.-23.11.2025. Festivaalin teosreitti levittäytyy Oulun keskustan suistoa ympäröiville saarille – myös Pikisaareen!
Valon varjopuolella esitetään Art Hub Pikisaaren ikkunoissa. Pikisaaren miljöössä ohikulkijaa lämmittää pimeinä iltoina vanhan talon ikkunapuitteisiin rakennettu sympaattinen valon ja varjojen kasvihuonefantasia. Teos yhdistää kasvit, valokuvan ja varjoesityksen.
Kasveja on kuvattu ihmiskunnan historian aikana lukemattomin tavoin: kaksi- ja kolmiulotteisesti, realistisesti ja tyylitellysti, mustavalkoisena ja värillisenä, symbolisesti sekä tieteellisesti ja taiteellisesti. Valon varjopuolella jatkaa tätä kasvien kuvaamisen perinnettä omalla tavallaan.

On the Shadow Side of Light

Art Hub Pikisaari will be participating in the Lumo Light Festival Oulu 21-23 November 2025. The artwork route spreads to the islands surrounding the Oulu city centre – including Pikisaari! The festival artwork is currently being built at Art Hub Pikisaari
On the Shadow Side of Light will be presented in the windows of Art Hub Pikisaari. During the dark evenings in the Pikisaari milieu, passersby are warmed by a sympathetic greenhouse fantasy of light and shadows built into the window frames of an old house. The work combines plants, photography, and shadow play – the light from behind the windows draws out the spectrum of northern flora.
Throughout human history, plants have been depicted in countless ways: two dimensional and three dimensional, realistic and stylized, black and white and colour, symbolic as well as scientifically and artistically. On the Shadow Side of Light continues this long tradition of portraying plants in its own way – softly, through the interplay of light and shadow.
The work will be on view from 21-23 November 2025 from 4 pm to 10 pm.
